Each tax season, Arizona families miss out on millions of dollars in tax refunds because they are unaware of programs like the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), a refundable federal income tax credit eligible to low-income working individuals and families. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is designed to change this by providing families with the knowledge and guidance to lessen their financial burden. TCC’s Tempe Financial Stability Initiative works in collaboration with Arizona State University’s W.P. Carey School of Business, the Internal Revenue Service and Gracie’s Village to operate a VITA program in our area.
